Saudi Arabia reports 1,567 new coronavirus cases, 38 more deaths

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia on Friday reported 1,567 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 285,793, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

The ministry announced 38 more deaths from complications caused by the deadly virus, taking the total number of fatalities to 3,093.

According to the ministry’s statement, 1,859 more COVID-19 infected people have fully recovered, raising the total number of recovered cases in the Kingdom to 248,948.

The recovery rate has risen to 87.11 percent.


The ministry said 281 of the newly recorded cases were in the Eastern Province, while Makkah region reported 268, Asir 259 and Riyadh 208.

There are 33,752 actives cases, out of which 1,892 are in a critical condition, according to the statement.

The ministry conducted a total of 58,299 PCR tests over the past 24 hours, the statement added.
