ABU DHABI — The United Arab Emirates on Friday registered 216 new coronavirus cases, taking the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 62,061, the Ministry of Health and Prevention said in a statement carried by WAM.

The new patients, all of whom are stable and receiving the necessary medical care, were detected after 61,000 additional coronavirus tests were conducted among UAE citizens and residents over the past few days, the ministry said.

The ministry also announced the full recovery of 276 new cases after receiving the necessary treatment, raising the number of total recovered patients to 56,015.

Meanwhile, two more patients died from complications caused by COVID-19, pushing the total number of virus-related fatalities in the country to 356.

The ministry expressed its sincere condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to all patients.

It also urged the public to cooperate with health authorities and follow all precautionary measures, particularly social distancing regulations, to ensure the safety and protection of the public.
