Coronavirus deaths top 3,000 as Saudi Arabia detects 1,389 new cases

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday 1,389 new confirmed coronavirus, bringing the total number to confirmed infections cases in the Kingdom 282,824 cases.

The Ministry of Health added that 36 more patients have succumbed to the deadly virus, raising the total number of fatalities to 3,020.

The ministry also said that 1,626 patients have recovered from the coronavirus disease, pushing the total number of recovered cases to 245,314.

The recovery rate in the Kingdom has hit 84.76 percent, scoring well above the global average.


The cities and governorates most affected were Riyadh with 109 new cases, followed by Makkah with 106 cases and Khamis Mushayt with 90 new infections.

A total of 34,490 active cases are there in the Kingdom out of which 1,991 are critical cases, while the health condition of the rest is stable, the statement added.
