Umm Kulthum hologram to perform at Dubai Opera

August 03, 2020

DUBAI — As part of Eid in Dubai Celebration, Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), MBC Group, and New Dimension Productions (NDP) invite Umm Kulthum fans to attend a nostalgic exceptional concert hosted by Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) at the Dubai Opera House. The event will see a digitized version of the late diva singing in front of her audience. NDP is set to offer some of the iconic singer's unforgettable hits, which shaped the history of classical Arabic music.

This year's cooperation between DFRE, MBC Group, and NDP comes after a hugely successful and largely celebrated debut in 2019. One of the leading providers of state-of-the-art entertainment technology, NDP enjoys an extensive experience in the 3D and hologram content production, as the regional audience still remember the company's fascinating premiere during the launch of MBC Egypt in 2013, and the speech of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan via the hologram technology in 2018.

Commenting on the concert, Hasan Hina, founder & CEO, NDP, said: "We made great efforts to prepare and develop the content of this concert, especially since the preparation of the Umm Kulthum material required long hours during which a team of 18 experts worked to develop the hologram and visual effects, in collboration with a team of 30 technicians who set up the hologram equipment on-site."

“In recognition of her unique position in the culture and heritage of the MENA region, we are pleased to collaborate with the DFRE and the MBC Group to give the diva's fans a truly exceptional experience and the opportunity to attend one of her concerts and relive the feeling," he added.

In cooperation with Dubai Opera and other partners, DFRE is keen to adopt the highest safety and health measures, including disinfection and social distancing practices during the concert to ensure the health and safety of all the guests and staff. Such measures include extensive sterilization, adherence to social distancing in terms of seat placement, as well as other precautionary procedures.

The event consists of four performances, with the first show scheduled for Aug. 6 at 09:00 p.m., while two other performances are scheduled for the following day at 06:30 and 10:30 p.m. The finale of the event is set for 09:00 p.m. on Aug. 8. Ticket prices start from AED295 for the Silver category up until AED550 for VIP tickets. In celebration of the Eid, the event will also include the performance of Al Atlal.

The event's organization comes as a preparation for a special tour that NDP and MBC Group were planning for the first quarter of this year. However the tour, which was set to visit Jordan, Egypt, Bahrain, Tunisia and Morocco, was postponed due to the measures taken to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. — SG
