KUWAIT CITY — Lawmakers and employees of the Kuwaiti parliament will undergo medical tests before the beginning of the next parliament session as the country battles to curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, Arab Times, an English-language daily reported on Thursday

According to Kuwait’s parliament speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim, the health preparations for a two-day session, beginning on Aug. 4, are being done in coordination with the Ministry of Health.

Al-Ghanim said samples will be taken from the lawmakers and employees who will attend the meeting on Monday – a day before the first session.

He clarified that Monday is a holiday on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha, so he urged the employees and lawmakers to come to the Assembly building on that day for testing.

Al-Ghanim expressed the possibility of the session continuing for three days until Thursday if the need arises and the parliament decides to do so. He added an update will be given on the schedule of the session in his press conference which is scheduled for Wednesday.
