RIYADH — The intensive care unit (ICU) bed capacity in Asir hospitals has been increased by 130%, the Ministry of Health announced on Saturday.

The increase in the ICU bed capacity is part of the efforts to upgrade and improve health services in the region to meet the health needs of citizens and residents, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) quoted a MoH press release as saying.

This step comes as a continuation of the ministry’s announcement to add around 3,000 ICU beds within 90 days in various hospitals in all regions of the Kingdom to provide the highest level of medical care to citizens and residents. It also comes as a continuation of applying the highest precautionary standards and preventive measures to address the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the ministry said.
