Recovery rate spikes as Saudi Arabia records 2,378 new coronavirus cases

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia registered on Friday 2,378 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 262,772, the Ministry of Health said in a statement.

The ministry also said 2,241 more people have recovered from the disease, taking the total number of recoveries in the country to 215,731.

Of the new infections, 195 were reported in the holy city of Makkah, followed by Riyadh with 139 and Al Hufouf with 135 cases.

The other new infections were recorded in different cities and provinces across Saudi Arabia.

Thirty-seven more people have died from the virus, taking the death toll to 2,672.

Meanwhile, the recovery rate in the Kingdom has crossed 82 percent, according to the health ministry.

The number of active coronavirus cases in Saudi Arabia stands at 44,369, and 2,143 of them are in critical condition, the statement added.
