JEDDAH —
A 107-year-old Saudi woman has recovered from coronavirus after getting best treatment and excellent medical care in a Jeddah hospital.

Dr. Khaled Al-Ghamdi, executive director of East Jeddah Hospital, said that the woman had severe respiratory problems. She was immediately transferred to the emergency department where she was examined by a medical team, headed by Dr. Ruba Hindi, internal medicine consultant, and Dr. Badour Al-Otaibi, internal medicine specialist.

She was found to be infected with the novel coronavirus and that resulted in severe pneumonia and acute respiratory syndrome, which necessitated placing her on ventilator within 4 days after her hospitalization. She was transferred to intensive care unit where she was given the necessary treatment for coronavirus in line with the treatment protocols from the Ministry of Health.

Within a week of hospitalization, the woman’s health began to improve and subsequently the ventilator was removed. The elderly woman was discharged from the hospital after her complete recovery. Her condition is now reported to be excellent, hospital sources said.
