RIYADH — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman called via telephone Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to inquire about the latter’s health and be reassured of his condition.

King Salman, in his phone call, wished the Kuwaiti Emir permanent good health and wellness.

For his part, the Emir of Kuwait expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, for his noble fraternal feelings, praying that may Allah, abundantly, reward him.

Earlier, Sheikh Sabah was admitted to a hospital for medical tests, the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported on Saturday citing the Amiri Diwan.

The emir will be undergoing a number of medical checks and is currently in good health, the Minister of the Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al-Sabah said, according to KUNA.

Sheikh Sabah on Saturday authorized his Crown Prince to temporarily take over some responsibilities, according to KUNA.

The 91-year-old emir has ruled the country since 2006 and steered its foreign policy for more than 50 years.

In October of last year, Sheikh Sabah had suffered a health setback while in Kuwait and was admitted to a hospital in the United States during his trip for a meeting with US President Donald Trump.

After receiving treatment, the emir then returned to Kuwait. — Agencies
