UAE reports 344 new coronavirus cases as total COVID-19 tests exceed 4 million

ABU DHABI — Minister of Health and Community Protection in the United Arab Emirates said on Monday that the specialized medical institutions in the country have conducted more than four million medical examinations as part of the ministry’s efforts to widen the scope of testing for early detection of coronavirus cases in the country.

At the regular government press briefing, Abdul Rahman Al Owais, the health minister, also praised the vigor of the heroes of the first line of defense and their efforts to preserve the safety of society and ensure the health of everyone.

Meanwhile, Dr. Amna Al-Dahhak Al-Shamsi, the official spokesperson for the UAE Government, announced that a total of 344 new coronavirus cases were recorded on Monday, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 55,198.

The new cases, all of whom are receiving necessary medical treatment, were detected after the health authorities conducted 34,478 additional coronavirus tests among citizens and residents in the country during the past 24 hours, the spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, one more death was recorded, raising the virus-related death toll in the country to 334.

She added that 373 new recoveries were recorded, taking the total number of recoveries in the country to 45,513.

According to her, there were 9,351 patients still receiving medical care.
