RIYADH —
Saudi Arabia recorded its lowest number of daily reported COVID-19 deaths with 20 fatalities in the past 24 hours. It also reported 2,852 new cases of the novel coronavirus during the same period, raising the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 235,111, the ministry of health said on Monday.

The Kingdom has been recording between 30-56 deaths per day for the past two weeks, according to data provided by the health ministry. Currently, the virus-related death toll in the country is 2,243.

Meanwhile, the number of recoveries in Saudi Arabia rose to 169,842 after 2,704 people recovered from the coronavirus, ministry spokesman Dr. Muhammad Al-Abdel Ali was quoted by Saudi Press Agency (SPA) as saying.

Riyadh again topped the list with 258 new infections in one day. There were 235 cases in Jeddah, 203 in Hufof, 177 in Dammam, 170 in Mobarraz, 131 in Taif, 123 in Abha and 115 in Najran.

Makkah recorded 82 infections while there were 70 cases in Madinah. The other cases were reported in cities and provinces around the country, the spokesman said.

The risk level of the novel coronavirus outbreak in Saudi Arabia dropped in the past nine days, according to a COVID-19 risk level map developed by a team of health experts.

The map, which was developed by teams at Harvard’s Global Health Institute and Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics, determines the severity of an outbreak in a given country based on the number of new daily reported cases.
