Bahrain’s king holds talks with Putin on key bilateral, regional issues

MANAMA —
Bahrain’s King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa held telephone talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday.

Their talks focused on bilateral cooperation, Syria's political settlement and the COVID-19 response, Bahrain News Agency reported.

Both the leaders underlined the need for settlement of the Syrian crisis and the preservation of Syria’s territorial integrity.

King Hamad lauded Russia’s active international role under President Putin’s leadership, praising its keenness on consolidating security and peace regionally and globally.

During the talks, the international efforts related to combating the coronavirus pandemic and its various repercussions were also reviewed.

King Hamad congratulated Putin on the successful vote on amendments to the national constitution and on the 75th anniversary of the victory in World War II.

For his part, the Russian president praised Bahrain’s king for his dedicated efforts and constant keenness to enhance relations and cooperation with his country.

He wished Bahrain and its people further success, progress, and prosperity under the king’s wise leadership.
