Saudi corona infections decline

A total of 3,580 new coronavirus cases were recorded in Saudi Arabia during the last 24 hours, the ministry of health said on Sunday. It takes the total to 209,509, the ministry said. Sunday's figures are much lower than the 4,128 infections recorded on Saturday.

Most new cases were a result of home gatherings, not workplace contact or from going out to public places, a health ministry spokesman was quoted by Saudi Press Agency (SPA) as saying.

The combined figure of patients who have won the battle against the merciless COVID-19 infection has jumped by 1,980 to 145,236, whereas in the meantime, a number of 58 more patients succumbed to the disease, lifting the national death toll to 1,916.

A total of 62,357 cases remain active in Saudi Arabia with 2,283 in critical conditions. The Kingdom has administered 1,874,327 tests as of Sunday.

The city of Riyadh saw the highest number of new infections at 332, followed by Taif with 271 cases. There were 242 infections in Khamis Mushayt, 230 in Makkah, 206 in Dammam, 177 in Abha, 159 in Madinah, 149 in Jeddah, 114 in Buraidah, 131 in Mahayel Asir, and 111 in Qatif. The other cases were detected in cities and provinces across the country, the spokesman said.
