Hussam Park: The crown of Al-Baha on its mountaintops

The enchanting scenes of an artificial lake, interactive waterfalls, fountains, and green landscapes at the picturesque Prince Hussam Park in the city center of Al-Baha attract a large number of nature lovers, holiday-makers and picnickers.

They enjoy exquisite beauty of this summer tourism spot in a refreshing environment with intermittent rains and cold breeze from the nearby foggy mountaintops of Al-Baha. Situated on the Sarawat Mountain ranges, they run parallel to the western coast of the Arabian Peninsula.

The “Pearl of Resorts” and the “Garden of Hejaz” are other names given to Al-Baha region with dozens of forests, dams and tourist resorts characterized by a natural tree cover and plateaus so that everyone spends beautiful and enjoyable time during the summer vacation.

Hussam Park, named after Al-Baha Emir Prince Hussam Bin Saud, includes an industrial lake with an area of 1,200 sq. meters. It overlooks the city of Al-Baha to give a breathtaking view of the beauty and enchanting nature of the city on the one hand and the Tihami sector on the other side. It is one of the major landmarks that support the development of tourism and investment sector in the region.

In the park, there are recreational areas for citizens and expatriates visiting the tourist destination all throughout the year. These recreational facilities spread over an area of 160,000 sq. meters, including green spaces with an area of 80,000 sq. meters, 36 spaces for sitting, 21 umbrellas, 1,400 trees and 4,000 shrubs, and an open area consisting of a theater that can accommodate 1,000 people.

There are also interactive fountains with an area of 1,000 square meters, two waterfalls of 10 meters high, three kiosks, 12 shops, a train carriage with a capacity of 55 people, a 700-meter long corridor, prayer area for men and women, children’s playgrounds and parking lots for 500 vehicles.

Prince Hossam Park has implemented new projects such as an additional facility for toilets for men and women, taking into account of people with special needs and the elderly to increase the capacity to accommodate the growing number of visitors to the park, and an administrative building to offer various services to visitors in addition to stone landscape with stairs in a way preserving the one-meter slope area.
