ABU DHABI — A fire truck equipped with oxygen tanks and control ports, the first fire truck of its kind in the region, was unveiled by the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence on Monday.
The special truck has been designed with an aim to save the lives of those who risk their own lives for the safety and security of others.
The truck has five control ports, one for each firefighter, and contains oxygen that firefighters can easily use if they experience breathing difficulties during an operation. It will also improve their productivity and performance.
Brig. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Ameri, Deputy Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence, stated that the new truck was designed according to the highest international standards in the field of prevention, safety and firefighting, in cooperation with the Emergency and Public Safety Department of the Abu Dhabi Police.
"The public administration recently adopted the latest smart devices to support firefighters in performing tasks in the most difficult conditions, while ensuring their safety," said Al Ameri.
"If you had to handle a fire where you may be exposed to breathing difficulties due to chemicals or vapors, you can get an oxygen supply just from over your seats," a civil defense official explained to firefighters at a briefing during the inauguration.
"The cylinder has a valve installed inside the truck and all firefighters have to do is turn on the cylinder valve."
