Saudi Arabia detects 3,989 new coronavirus cases; 40 more die

RIYADH —
A total of 3,989 new coronavirus cases were detected in Saudi Arabia during the past 24 hours, raising the total number of confirmed cases in the Kingdom to 182,493, the ministry of health announced on Sunday.

In recent days there has been a slight rise in the infection growth curve, prompting the ministry asking the people to be more careful.

The ministry reported 2,627 recoveries on Sunday, with total recoveries in the Kingdom standing at 124,755. There are 2,277 cases in intensive care.

The ministry also confirmed 40 deaths, bringing the total number of fatalities in Saudi Arabia to 1,551.

Critical cases in the country are between 2,000 to 2,500, and they seem to be stabilizing and are being monitored daily, the ministry said.

Out of the newly reported cases, 487 were detected in Hufof, 389 in Riyadh, and 320 in Dammam. There were 310 new infections in Makkah, 275 in Taif, 186 in Madinah, 183 in Al-Mubarraz, 171 in Khamis Mushayt, 151 in Qatif, 121 in Jeddah, 120 in Abha and 104 in Hafr Al-Batin.

The other new infections were recorded in different cities and provinces across Saudi Arabia.
