Kuwait records 688 new cases, recoveries stand at 34,586

KUWAIT CITY — With 688 new coronavirus cases detected in Kuwait during the last 24 hours, the overall figure of infections increased to 44,391 as the recoveries climbed to 34,586, a health ministry spokesperson announced on Saturday.

Of the total cases, 444 are Kuwaiti nationals while 244 are foreign nationals, Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad said.

He also announced the death of three individuals who had previously tested positive for the virus, raising the death toll to 344.

As the country’s recoveries continue to climb, 617 people most recently recovered.

The spokesperson also revealed that a further three people had died from COVID-19, with the death toll rising to 344.

Dr. Al-Sanad said the infections were recorded in Al-Ahmadi (194), Al-Jahraa (173), Farwania (149), 91 in Hawally and 81 in Al-Assima (the capital).

There are currently 9,461 active cases in Kuwait and 155 patients receiving treatment in intensive care.

Dr. Al-Sanad said that more than 3,240 swab tests for the virus were conducted over past 24 hours, with the total reaching 375,524 since breakout of the pandemic in the country. — Agencies
