CAIRO — The Arab Parliament on Wednesday condemned in the strongest terms the repeated attacks with ballistic missiles and drones by the Iran-backed Houthi militia on Saudi Arabia. The parliament called on the United Nations to force the Houthi coup militia to stop the cowardly aggressive actions targeting civilians and civilian facilities in the Kingdom.

In a resolution issued at the end of its public session held virtually on Wednesday on the latest developments in Yemen, the parliament held the Iranian regime fully responsible for its flagrant violation of the UN Security Council resolutions and its continued supply of smart weapons, ballistic missiles and drones to Houthi coup militia with the sole aim of destabilizing security in the region and perpetuating chaos in Yemen.

The parliament stressed the necessity for the implementation of the provisions of the Riyadh Agreement signed between the Yemeni government and the Southern Transitional Council in November last year.

The parliament welcomed the organization of the donors' conference for Yemen by Saudi Arabia in partnership with the United Nations early this month.

It appreciated the pioneering role of the Kingdom as the first supporter of the Yemeni people and the biggest funder of the United Nations humanitarian response plans in the country, providing approximately $17 billion in aid since the beginning of the crisis in 2014, and recently donated $500 million half a billion to support the humanitarian response plan for Yemen for the year 2020.

The Arab Parliament blamed the Houthi militia for displacing by force more than 8,000 migrants from African countries to Yemen, including women and children, and pushing them toward the Saudi border in April this year in an attempt to exploit the global situation amid coronavirus pandemic, undermine border security of the Kingdom and provoke international non-governmental organizations.

The Arab Parliament commended Saudi Arabia's handling of these cases, applying humanitarian standards, and providing all necessary humanitarian services to them.
