A young Bangladeshi woman, infected with coronavirus, gave birth to a baby boy at Hira General Hospital in the holy city recently. The mother and infant are in good condition. It is the second delivery for the 26-year-old woman, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

Dr. Hani Hariri, gynecology and obstetrics consultant at the hospital, said the woman suffered from coronavirus infection.

The medical team handled the case in compliance with the instructions from the Ministry of Health with regard to coronavirus protocol and she gave birth normally to a baby boy with a weight of 3.11 kg without any complications. Dr. Ahmed Qadib Alban, gynecologist; Dr. Alaa Motawalli, a fellowship doctor; and nurses Sarah Misfar and Nawal Khadr attended to the patient.

The hospital witnessed the first delivery of a COVID-19 patient last month. A medical team, led by Dr. Muhammad Al-Najjar, a consultant gynecologist, attended the delivery of a 28-year-old Saudi woman.
