MUSCAT — With 1,605 new coronavirus cases recorded during the last 24 hours, Oman registered its highest daily increase in the infections, the health ministry announced on Monday.

The health ministry also reported 856 new recoveries.

Of the new confirmed cases, 921 were foreign nationals and 684 were Omanis, according to the ministry.

With this, a total of 31,076 cases have been reported in the sultanate, along with 16,408 recoveries.

Meanwhile, six people who had previously tested positive for the virus have recovered, raising the death toll to 137.

Despite an increase in daily cases, the sultanate continues to see an increase in recoveries as well.

The health ministry also said 407 people are currently receiving medical care with 100 in the intensive care unit.

The ministry reiterated its appeal for adhering to social distancing instructions, as well as staying at home and not going out unless necessary. — Agencies
