VIENNA — Saudi Arabia on Friday welcomed the International Atomic Energy Agency’s adoption of a resolution asking Iran to fully cooperate with the agency and provide its inspectors access to suspected nuclear sites.

In a press statement, Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Austria and the governor of the Kingdom to the IAEA Prince Abdullah Bin Khalid Bin Sultan said: “Saudi Arabia welcomes the resolution moved by France, Germany, Britain, calling on Iran to cooperate fully and immediately with the agency, including allowing the agency to visit the specified sites, and the Kingdom appreciates, in this regard, the professional and transparent efforts undertaken by the agency and its director-general.”

"Saudi Arabia supports this resolution because it represents an important and serious step in efforts to counter Iran’s violations and breaches of international agreements and treaties related to its nuclear program,” Prince added.

Earlier in the day, the resolution was adopted by the IAEA's 35-nation board of governors during its scheduled meeting.

The board "calls on Iran to fully cooperate with the agency and satisfy the agency's requests without any further delay, including by providing prompt access to the locations specified by the agency," according to the text of the resolution submitted by France, Germany and Britain and adopted by a vote of 25 to two with seven abstentions, the IAEA said on its website.
