Saudi Arabia condemns Turkish, Iranian aggression in Iraq

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia on Thursday denounced the Turkish and Iranian attacks in northern Iraq and their violation of the sovereignty of an Arab state.

In a series of tweets, Saud Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: “We express our condemnation and denunciation of the aggression attacks on Iraqi soils by Turkey and Iran.”

“We consider this act of aggression an unacceptable interference in the affairs of an Arab state, a blatant violation of its lands, a threat to Arab and regional security, and a clear violation of international principles and norms,” the tweet said.

“We affirm our stand with our brothers in Iraq and support all measures to preserve its sovereignty, security and stability,” the tweet added.

Earlier, the United Arab Emirates also condemned the Turkish and Iranian aggression.

In a statement, the UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, affirmed the UAE’s consistent and principled rejection of all interference in the affairs of Arab countries, stressing the country's commitment to respecting the sovereignty of the brotherly state of Iraq, adhering to the principles of good neighborliness, and refraining from posing a threat to security and peace in the region.
