Saudi Gazette report

RIYADH — The Arab Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen on Monday intercepted and destroyed drones launched by the Iran-backed Houthi militia toward the city of Asir, targeting civilians and civilian facilities, Col. Turki Al-Maliki, was quoted as saying in a report carried by Saudi Press Agency.

Col. Al-Maliki said that the terrorist act by the Houthi militia and its previous attempts were carried out to deliberately target civilians and civilian facilities with an aim to cause huge loss of lives.

He added that the coalition is taking all necessary measures to protect innocent civilians, and will take strict and appropriate operational measures to stop these terrorist acts in accordance with international humanitarian law and its customary rules.

The continuation of these hostile and terrorist acts using explosive-laden drones confirms the extremist and unethical Houthi militia’s approach and its rejection of all the initiatives offered by the coalition, as well as the international efforts by the United Nations Secretary General’s special envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffith for a ceasefire in order reach a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis.

Earlier in the day, the coalition forces intercepted and shot down a bomb-laden drone fired by the Houthi militia toward Khamis Mushayt
