Arab Coalition intercepts Houthi drone launched toward Khamis Mushayt

RIYADH — The Arab Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen on Monday intercepted and shot down a drone launched by the Iran-backed Houthi militia toward the city of Khamis Mushayt, deliberately targeting civilians and civilian facilities, the coalition’s spokesperson, Col. Turki Al-Maliki, was quoted as saying in a report carried by Saudi Press Agency.

Col. Al-Maliki said that the terrorist act is an extension of terrorist operations that are being carried out by the Houthi terrorist militia to target innocent civilians and civilian facilities, the most recent of which was an attempt to target civilians and civilian facilities in the city of (Najran) by launching a ballistic missile on June 13.

The spokesman also said that the Houthi militia continues its terrorist and hostile actions using drones that carry explosive materials to target innocent civilians is a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and its customary rules.

Al-Maliki stressed that the leadership of the coalition's joint forces will take and implement resolute and strict measures to neutralize and destroy these capabilities to protect innocent civilians from the barbaric actions in accordance with the international law.
