KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait on Thursday reported 609 new coronavirus cases and four more deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed COVID-19 infections to 34,432 and fatalities to 279 in the country, state news agency KUNA reported a citing a statement from the Ministry of Health.

The ministry also said it conducted as many as 2,771 additional coronavirus tests, taking the total number of COVID-19 examinations in the country to 327,144.

Currently, 10,016 patients are receiving necessary medical treatment, including 184 in intensive care units, according to the statement.

Earlier in the day, the ministry announced 849 new coronavirus recoveries in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 24,137.

The ministry said the patients were declared recovered after conducting necessary medical examinations and taking standard procedures in such cases.

On Wednesday, Kuwait reopened mosques after nearly a three-month closure as part of the government's measures to ease coronavirus restrictions.
