MUSCAT — Oman on Thursday registered 1,067 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Sultanate to 19,954, the health ministry said in a statement carried by Oman News Agency.

Among the newly detected cases, 342 of them were Omani citizens whereas 725 of them were expatriates, the Ministry of Health said.

The ministry also announced five more deaths from the virus, bringing the total number of fatalities in the country to 89.

Meanwhile, a total of 983 more patients have recovered, raising the total number of recoveries in the Sultanate to 6,623 so far, according to the ministry’s statement.

The ministry also pointed out that 2,747 tests of Covid-19 were conducted over the past 24 hours, adding that 42 cases were hospitalized on Thursday. Out of a total of 308 infected patients who are hospitalized, 92 of them are in intensive care units
