DOHA -- Qatar reported 1,826 new coronavirus cases and three deaths on Tuesday, bringing the total number of infected people in the country to 60,259 and the death toll to 43, the Ministry of Public Health said.

Out of the 60,259 infected since the beginning of the pandemic, the ministry said that 24,180 are current active cases.

Qatar’s confirmed another 1,523 COVID-19 cases on Monday; 3,147 patients recovered and two others died in the last 24 hours.

The ministry noted that reason for the large increase in the number of recoveries is due to the application of the latest international recommendations regarding criteria for recovering from COVID-19 infection, which was approved by health authorities. -- Agencies
