RIYADH — Saudi Arabia will be sending back its ambassador to Iraq soon, Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan announced on Saturday.

The move follows directives from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman.

Prince Faisal made the announcement after his meeting Ali Allawi, Iraq deputy premier and acting minister of finance and oil, who was in the Kingdom on an official visit.

“This comes in order to translate the Kingdom’s desire to strengthen relations between the two countries,” Prince Faisal said.

Prince Faisal expressed the Kingdom's support to Iraq in order to achieve its security and stability and counter terrorism, noting that the Kingdom respects the sovereignty of Iraq away from foreign interference.

The foreign minister pointed out to the importance of the Saudi-Iraqi Coordination Council as a mechanism for developing relations between the two countries to broader cooperation in the political, economic, security, commercial and investment fields.
