Saudi Arabia reports 2,442 new coronavirus cases, 2,233 recoveries

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia announced 2,442 new coronavirus cases on Saturday, bringing the total number of COVID-19 infections in the Kingdom to 70,161, the Ministry of Health said in a statement.

A total of 2,233 more patients have completely recovered, raising the total recoveries to 41,236, the ministry said.

The ministry also reported 15 new deaths in the past 24 hours, taking the number of fatalities to 379.

The highest number of cases, 794, was recorded in the capital Riyadh. Makkah reported second highest cases with 466, closely followed by Jeddah with 444 cases and 273 in Madinah.

Speaking during a daily press briefing, the
health ministry spokesman, Dr. Muhammad Al-Abdel Ali, said that the 60 percent of the confirmed cases in the Kingdom have completely recovered and the health authorities are increasing the number of daily tests in efforts to prevent potential outbreaks.
