JEDDAH — Qatar on Friday recorded 1,830 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of confirmed COVID-19 infections to 40,481, the country’s Ministry of Public Health said in a statement carried by state news agency QNA.

The ministry also said that two more patients have died, raising the total number of virus-related deaths in the country to 19.

A total of 605 more people have completely recovered after receiving necessary treatment and cares, taking the total number of recoveries to 7,893 so far, according to the ministry.

The ministry claimed that it conducted 5,160 tests in last 24 hours, taking the total tests done so far to 18,0642.

Most of the new cases are of expatriate workers who contracted the infection a result of contact with individuals who were previously infected, according to the ministry.
