NAJRAN – It was a thrilling experience with a healthy competition among the local professional photographers of Najran in the southwestern region of Saudi Arabia, while taking wonderful pictures of rain that hit the region over the past few days.

Their lenses depicted the incredible picturesque landscape, torrents, and the serene beauty of nature. They express their feelings that going out shooting on a rainy day are exhilarating moments and that clouds act like a softbox for them.

Some of the rain pictures were taken by using mobile phone while others with professional cameras. However, all these pictures covered the multiple angles of the diverse landscapes of the region. Hadi Al-Dowais, a digital photographer, said that he has some favorite locations that he prefers to shoot after the rain stops falling every now and then.

“It is ideal to shoot before sunset when the valleys are full of torrents as they look like beautiful paintings,” he said while underlining the need to take precaution about the safety while photographing from some locations.

Abdul Majeed Al-Yami, another photographer, spoke about his passion to take images during rains, accompanied by lightning, as reflections appear in rain drops at such unique moments. He always maintains utmost precaution while taking pictures of the beautiful landscapes of valleys during rain.

On his part, Hamad Al-Saqour noted that it is a great opportunity for a photographer to take snapshots of buildings, people, trees and cars that are reflecting on lakes or water spots immediately after a rainfall, while Raed Abdul Aziz, another rain photographer, prefers to take pictures at times of rain in the background of overcast skies as it blocks harsh lighting from the sun.
