502 new coronavirus cases, 8 more deaths reported in UAE

ABU DHABI — The United Arab Emirates on Thursday reported 502 new coronavirus cases and eight new deaths.

The new numbers bring the country’s total confirmed coronavirus cases to 16,240 and 165 deaths.

The new cases were detected after more than 33,000 additional tests were conducted in different regions of the country, the UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention said in a statement carried by WAM.

All new cases are stable and are receiving the necessary care, the ministry added.

The ministry also said that 213 coronavirus patients have fully recovered, bringing the total recoveries to 3,572.

Eight people who died of the virus are from different countries and they suffered from chronic illnesses, according to the ministry’s statement.

The ministry called on citizens and residents to adhere to precautionary measures to protect their health. — SG
