JEDDAH —
A volunteering initiative to raise shoppers’ engagement with the Kingdom’s measures to combat the spread of COVID-19 has been launched in the city recently.

About 100 volunteers are participating in the initiative and more than 700 requests are under consideration, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said.

“Ahl Jeddah Volunteering” (Volunteering People of Jeddah) initiative launched by the Jeddah Municipality at supermarkets and hypermarkets across the city aims to ensure that shoppers adhere to social distancing guidelines such as standing at least two meters apart, and ensure that they wear gloves and masks, that their temperatures are measured, and that shopping carts are sanitized properly.

Under the title “Volunteering Heroes,” Director of Social Responsibility Majid Al-Sulami said that Jeddah Municipality was continuing its efforts to combat the pandemic.

It was trying to curb the spread of the virus in the governorate through an integrated system of field work that includes carrying out the “Volunteering People of Jeddah” initiative at shopping centers by raising awareness about precautionary measures and contributing to organizing social distancing.
