UAE reports 518 new coronavirus cases, 91 recoveries and 4 deaths

ABU DHABI — The United Arab Emirates on Thursday reported 518 new coronavirus cases, 91 recoveries and four more deaths, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health and Prevention carried by state news agency WAM.

The ministry said that the new cases were discovered after 29,000 more tests were carried out as part of its plan to intensify screening and testing to ensure early detection.

With the detection of 518 new cases, the total number of infected cases rises to 8,756.

The new identified cases are in a stable condition and undergoing treatment, according to the ministry’s statement.

The ministry said that four more people who succumbed to the deadly virus were Asian expatriates and were suffering from chronic health conditions. This brings the total deaths in the country to 56 so far.

The ministry expressed sincere condolences to the families of the deceased and wished for a speedy recovery for all the injured, calling on the members of the community to cooperate with health authorities, adhere to the instructions and follow social distancing to ensure the health and safety of all. — SG
