KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait reported 151 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 2,399 so far, the country’s health ministry said in a statement on Thursday carried by state news agency KUNA.

Among the newly infected cases, there were 12 people — all Kuwaiti nationals — who had traveled outside the country recently.

The ministry also announced one more death from the virus, raising the total number of fatalities in the country to 14.

During a daily press briefing, the health ministry spokesman said that 55 patients were in intensive care units and 22 of them are in critical condition.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,887 patients are currently receiving treatment in the country’s hospitals.

Earlier in the day, Kuwait’s Health Minister Basel Al-Sabah announced 55 new recoveries, taking the total number of recoveries to 498 so far. — SG
