RIYADH -- The Public Prosecution has warned expatriates against involving in any commercial activity in the name of Saudi citizens or foreign investors.

Penalty for commercial cover-up (tasattur) amounts to two years in prison and a fine of SR1 million, in addition to the closure of the commercial activity, cancellation of the commercial registration and deportation, the Public Prosecution said in a statement.

It is prohibited for a non-Saudi to invest or engage in commercial activity in the name of a Saudi or a foreign investor in violation of the regulations. “Covering up is a crime that negatively affects the national economy and the demographic environment in the Kingdom, and leads to illegal competitions and an increase in cases of commercial fraud and monopoly,” the statement added.
