Wanted individual killed in Tabuk shootout

RIYADH — A wanted individual was killed in shootout with the security forces and a huge cache of arms was seized from his hideout in Tabuk, the Saudi Press Agency reported quoting the spokesman of the Presidency of State Security.

The spokesman said that the individual Abdul Rahim Al-Huwaiti, a Saudi national, opened fire at security men when they raided his home in Tabuk region to arrest him on Monday morning. The man was holed up on top of the building behind sandbags, and he did not respond to calls made by security men to him and one of his brothers, asking them to surrender. As a result of the man’s continued shooting and throwing Molotov cocktails toward security men, they returned fire, killing him. Two security men sustained injuries in the shootout. They were transferred to hospital and their condition is stable, the spokesman said.

Security forces have seized several arms from the hideout, including a machine gun, pistol, gun, four air silencers, 33 live ammunition of machine gun, 12 live ammunition of rifle, and a box containing 13 Molotov cocktails.
