JEDDAH -- Syed Hamza Gilani, former director general in Pakistan's Press Information Department, has been named new consul (press) at his country's consulate here, well-informed sources said.

Gilani will replace Arshad Munir, who is returning home after completing his tenure here.

Munir's departure from Jeddah has been delayed by a few months due to air restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Gilani will take over the responsibility in Jeddah soon after the prime minister's approval, sources said.
