RIYADH — Etihad Etisalat Company (Mobily) announced the activation and launch of the eSIM service dubbed “Mobily eSIM” available for the latest version of smart devices.

The service will be available from Mobily to all of its customers using devices that support the eSIM option and subscribing to any of the postpaid or prepaid packages.

Mobily will offer the service starting 12:00 a.m. Monday (April 13) through Mobily e-Store.

As for the compatibility of this technology with current services, Mobily explained that its services are fully compatible with eSIMs and that all services will work on eSIMs normally, including roaming services.

In a bid to extend the benefits of this service to its customers, Mobily announced that for a limited time, it is providing the eSIM service for free.

The technology will enable manufacturers of mobile and smart devices to manufacture smaller and lighter devices.

The use of this technology will render the need for traditional SIM cards obsolete given they will be replaced with a chip built into the device, which means that in the future users will be able to get their services without the need to obtain traditional SIM cards.

This technology will contribute to eliminating the risk of losing SIM cards or malfunctions, which will positively reflect on customer experience.

This move from "Mobily" aligns with its strategy towards digital transformation and attaining a leadership position in digital transformation in the Kingdom.

This, in turn, aligns with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and accords customers an integrated and distinctive digital experience taking into consideration the competitiveness of the Saudi market, which is characterized by customers’ quick adoption of the latest global technological trends. — SG
