RIYADH — The Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons at the Human Rights Commission (HRC) is organizing a distance electronic training course on the implementation mechanisms of the National Referral Mechanism (NRM).

The HRC will conduct the course in collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for the Gulf Cooperation Council, with the participation of representatives of the committee.

The course, which lasts for two successive days in a row, aims to train the central national team for the implementation of the National Referral Mechanism in how to follow up cases of trafficking in persons and monitor the situation of victims in collaboration with the relevant government agencies.

The course presented by the UNODC expert Dr. Mohanad Dweikat tackles several issues, including the concept of trafficking under the national laws and international conventions, the axes on which the national law is based, the stages of the National Referral Mechanism, the role of the various agencies in implementing the National Referral Mechanism and practical exercise on these issues.

The course will also be held in a number of different regions of the Kingdom. — SG
