RIYADH —
Saudi Arabia on Sunday confirmed four new cases of the deadly coronavirus, raising the total number of cases to 11, the Ministry of Health announced. Three cases were found in Saudi nationals who had come in contact with others who were infected. The fourth new case, also of a Saudi national, had come from Iran and entered the country via the UAE, Al Arabiya English reported.

All the new four affected people are from Qatif governorate in the Eastern Province. Three of them are women who contracted the diseases from the previously announced people while the fourth is a man who came from Iran via the UAE. All the infected people have been quarantined and are being provided with the necessary medical treatment in accordance with the approved health procedures, the ministry said in a statement.

The announcement comes a day after the ministry asked that all residents of the Kingdom who had been to Lebanon, Egypt, Italy, or South Korea in the last two weeks quarantine themselves at home for 14 days from the date of their arrival.

Saudi Arabia has been taking precautionary measures to combat the spread of the deadly virus in the country, including enforcing a temporarily ban on entering Makkah.

Several countries in the Arabian Gulf region have confirmed cases of coronavirus, with Iran at the epicenter. Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the UAE, and Bahrain have all barred its residents and citizens from traveling to Iran as a result.
