SRO sees 4% increase in passenger numbers

RIYADH — There has been an increase of more than four percent in the number of passengers transported by the Saudi Railways Organization (SRO) between its four terminals of Riyadh, Dammam, Hofuf and Abqaiq during the year 2019 as compared to the previous year. According to the statistical figures released by the SRO, number of passengers who were transported during the year 2019 between the four stations reached 1,805,216, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The increase in the number of passengers exceeded 70,000 compared to the previous year of 2018, with a growth rate of 4.06 percent when the number of passengers in that year reached 1,734,744. During the last month, the SRO recorded the highest number of passengers traveling between these four stations compared to other months of 2019, which accounted for 170,529 passengers, while the average number of passengers transported daily reached nearly 5,000 passengers.

SRO expects a continued growth in the number of passengers during the year 2020 compared to the last year due to the great demand among the public for train transport service.
