No new government fees before impact assessment

JEDDAH – The higher authorities have issued directives to all concerned government departments to refrain from making any proposal with regard to increasing or amending the existing fee structure without studying the socio-economic impacts of the proposed changes as they may cause more financial burdens, Okaz has learned

This is in line with the Fiscal Balance Program (FBP) document taking into consideration the government’s statement not to impose any new fees until 2020, in order to raise the competitiveness in the Kingdom’s investment environment and protect small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

The decision was taken following a presentation by the Ministry of Commerce and Investment on the challenges facing the private sector and the support it requires.
