JEDDAH — In the 2nd week matches of the 2nd Modon Sports Cricket Tournament sponsored by Modon and organized by Arkan Sports, Menabev, Al Marai, Binzagr Foods, Binzagr Unilever, Indomie, and Jotun recorded convincing wins over their respective opponents.
Highlights of the week were fine all-round stint by Shafiq (71 runs and 3 for 5) of Jotun Penguins, Umair Malik (59 runs and 2 for 19) of Binzagr Foods, aggressive batting by Umair Javed (86) of Samco, Ranjan (74) of Al Marai and Imran (72) of Jotun coupled with fine bowling performances by Viquar (4 for 21) of Binzagr Foods and Malik (3 for 14) of Indomie.
Menabev raced to a 10-wicket win over AVK SVMCO chasing down the target of 84 in 5.5 overs as openers Mahmood (37) and Yasir (35) went on full throttle.
Binzagr Foods sent AVK SVMCO on a leather-hunt scoring 174 for 4 to win by 87 runs with Umair Malik scoring 59 and taking 2 for 19. Sister company Binzagr Unilever had mixed fortunes as they trounced SRAMCO by 9 wickets with Nasir and Shahid picking up 2 a piece for 4 and 5 runs respectively and Mumtaz blazing all guns scoring 38; while in the second match they lost to Indomie by 43 runs with Malik (3 for 14), Mazhar (2 for 15) and Inam (2 for 27) bundling them out for 94 runs.
Jotun Penguins had a gala day winning both matches against Al Marai (by 53 runs) and Saudi Can (by 58 runs) respectively, thanks to in form Shafiq. who scored 71 and took 3 for 5 in one match and followed up with 38 in the next while Imran (72) blasted his way with a blazing knock.
MENABEV beat AVK SVMCO by 10 wickets
AVK SVMCO 83 for 7 10 overs (Mirza 18, Ghulam 17, Ehsan 2 for 7, Raja 2 for 12, Mahmood 1 for 12). Menabev 84 for 0 5.5 overs (Mahmood 37, Yasir 35).
BINZAGR FOODS beat AVK SVMCO by 87 runs
