RIYADH — Prince Faisal Bin Farhan, the new foreign minister of Saudi Arabia, has proved his efficiency, caliber and acumen as a very smart and articulate statesman who has been very persuasive in his statements.
In a royal decree issued on Wednesday, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman appointed him to succeed Ibrahim Al-Assaf, who has been appointed as Minister of State and Member of the Cabinet.
Born in Germany in 1974, Prince Faisal Bin Farhan has served as Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Germany since Feb. 10 this year. The new foreign minister speaks English and German fluently.
Prince Faisal has held several key posts in the public and private sectors. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Arabian Military Industries Company (SAMI) and had been serving as chairman of SAMI’s Executive Committee since 2017.
He held the position of deputy chairman and chairman of the Board of Directors of Alsalam Aerospace Industries Company during the period from 2001 to 2013 .
He had served as the chief adviser at the Saudi Arabian Embassy in the US and as an adviser to the Royal Court of Saudi Arabia. He also served as vice chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Company for Maintenance and Operation from 1996-1998.
As part of the reshuffle announced overnight, Transport Minister Nabil Al-Amoudi was also replaced, with Saleh Bin Nasser Al-Jasser installed in the role.
