17-day gala event in Dhahran to explore creativity in art, music

Tanween, a creativity season, is continuing its activities in the eastern city of Dhahran to empower the new generation through linking the Saudi talents with international experts, boost the creative industries and innovation culture via art, music, movies, theater, sciences, arts, cultural heritage and entrepreneurship.

The 17-day event is being organized by King Abdul Aziz Center for World Culture (Ithra).

Rania Baltaji, chairwoman of the department of communications and partnerships at the center, said Taanween is hosting 19 international speakers and will organize 13 practical training sessions on designing and entrepreneurship in addition to a number of pubic lectures.

She said Thiery Henry, the world French soccer player, will meet the public on Friday and will deliver a lecture about soccer on Saturday at the Ithra theater.

Baltaji said there will be exhibitions for giant dummies and a paper battle which will explore new means to benefit from card board boxes to build big artistic constructions, fashion and theatrical shows.

She said the center will make a special practical training for children to be presented by Hervy Tolet, the famous children book author.

"The child will find great joy to cooperate with his other colleagues to design distinguished drawings," she added.

Baltaji said the Tanween event will consist of a number of programs and practical trainings in addition to interactive artistic shows that will enable visitors to explore the game concepts, its tools and various techniques as well as its relationship with culture and innovation.

"Tanween is aimed at further reinforcing the creative talents through the participation of international and local experts in sciences, industrialization, communications and other arts," she said.
