Saudi Football Professional League has been renamed as the Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman League for the second consecutive season.


The announcement to rename the league was made by Prince Abdulaziz Bin Turki Al-Faisal, chairman of the Saudi Arabian General Sports Authority, during the inauguration ceremony of the new season held at King Abdullah Sports Complex here on Sunday night.

In his speech, Prince Abdulaziz thanked Custodian of Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, for their support to sport, highlighting the recent announcement of the distribution of SR2.5 billion to clubs.

The 2019–20 Saudi Professional League (SPL) will be the 44th edition of the Saudi Professional League, the top Saudi professional league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 1976. The season is scheduled to start on Aug. 22, 2019 and conclude in May 2020. Al-Nassr are the defending champions.
