Five rescued from fire in their Makkah home

MAKKAH —
The Civil Defense teams extinguished a fire that broke out in a house on the top of Barna mountain in Al-Shawqiyyah District in the holy city.

Major Naif Al-Sharif, spokesman of the Civil Defense, said all the five occupants were safely evacuated from the house.

He said the fire broke out in the kitchen of the two-story building but was contained before it could spread to other rooms.

The spokesman said investigations have already started to determine the causes of the fire.

On the other hand, five people died and 13 others injured when a car overturned in Al-Majardah town in Asir region.

Mohammed Al-Shihri, spokesman of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority, said the injured were transported to Al-Majardah general hospital while the dead were transported to the morgue in the hospital.

He said in another accident, two cars collided while on their way to Tanoumah on Balsamar road seriously injuring 11 people.
