TAIF — Ten doctors, nurses and administrators in King Faisal Hospital in Taif were accused of negligence which led to a child having his gonads amputated, according to his father.

Health sources said the case file forwarded to the Shariah Medical Committee, which is considering the case, contains the names of 10 hospital employees.

They said the names were included in the list after investigating all the people who were working in the emergency ward and watching CCTV cameras showing all those who received or dealt with the child.

The sources said a number of government departments were closely following up the case including the Control and Investigation Board (CIB), the National Committee for Human Rights in Makkah, the National Anti-Corruption Commission (Nazaha) and many others.

Sultan Al-Harithy, the child's father, said the doctors took a long time to examine his son when his mother brought him to the hospital.

"The gonads died due to the unnecessary long wait and had to be amputated thus destroying my son's future and his normal sexual life," he said.

The department of health affairs in Taif, however, had a different story to tell. It said only one testicle was removed and the other one was properly functioning.

The department assured the father that there were no fears about his son's future sexual life and that he could get married, have babies and lead a normal life.
