NEW York — Chicago's Kris Bryant slugged three home runs and drove in five runs, and the Cubs hit six homers in a 14-6 rout of the host Washington Nationals on Friday.

Bryant clubbed his third homer — and fourth hit — in the ninth inning. He went deep in each of the final three frames, joining Sammy Sosa (2002) as the only Cubs players to homer three innings in a row. Bryant, 27, also had a three-homer game in Cincinnati on June 27, 2016.

Cole Hamels (4-0) tossed five innings of two-run ball as the Cubs broke a two-game losing streak behind an 18-hit attack.

Bryant went 4-for-6, Willson Contreras had four hits including a two-run homer, Albert Almora Jr. and Kyle Schwarber hit two-run blasts, and Javier Baez extended his career-high hitting streak to 15 games with two hits.

Astros 3, Red Sox 1

George Springer clubbed his American League-leading 17th home run in the eighth inning, and Houston rallied for a victory at Boston, the Astros' ninth consecutive win.

Springer socked a first-pitch changeup from Rick Porcello 395 feet just to center field, scoring Jake Marisnick and erasing a one-run deficit. Porcello entered the eighth having retired seven consecutive batters before surrendering his first extra-base hit of the night when Marisnick doubled to left.

Porcello (3-4) allowed two runs on six hits and one walk with three strikeouts in seven-plus innings for Boston, which had won 12 of 15 games. Will Harris (1-0) threw one scoreless inning for the win, and Roberto Osuna handled the ninth inning for his 11th save.

Yankees 4, Rays 3

Gio Urshela hit a game-winning single with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, capping a three-run rally that pushed New York past visiting Tampa Bay.

The Yankees beat the Rays for the third time in four meetings this year when Urshela hit a 2-0 fastball over center fielder Kevin Kiermaier's head off Jose Alvarado (0-3). Upon hitting the ball, Urshela pumped his right fist and flipped off his helmet to celebrate giving New York its third walk-off win of the season and producing his first career walk-off hit.

Luke Voit, who went 3-for-4, started the comeback from a 3-1 deficit by hammering the first pitch of the ninth over the right-center-field fence to make it a one-run game. The Yankees later forged a 3-3 tie when pinch runner Thairo Estrada scored on a wild pitch.

Athletics 7, Tigers 2

Frankie Montas came within one out of his first career complete game, Mark Canha and Chad Pinder blasted two-run homers, and visiting Oakland overpowered Detroit.

In his 22nd career start, Montas (5-2) gave up two runs on four hits without a walk and struck out 10. Canha also hit a two-run homer in the Athletics' 17-3 victory on Thursday in the series opener. Khris Davis supplied three hits, a run and an RBI.

Miguel Cabrera and Josh Harrison had RBI doubles for the Tigers, who have lost five straight, all at home. Daniel Norris (2-2) gave up six runs on seven hits in 5 1/3 innings.

Blue Jays 10, White Sox 2

Justin Smoak, Danny Jansen and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. homered, and Toronto coasted to a win over host Chicago.

Billy McKinney finished 4-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI for the Blue Jays, who amassed 15 hits. Toronto bounced back from a two-hit performance one night earlier to even the four-game series at one win apiece.

Leury Garcia and Yoan Moncada each drove in one run to lead the White Sox at the plate. Guerrero provided the highlight with his third home run in 17 games since reaching the big leagues. With one on and nobody out in the fourth, he ripped a high line drive toward straightaway center field.

Marlins 8, Mets 6

Jorge Alfaro hit a two-run homer and drove in three runs to help Miami end a seven-game losing streak with a win against visiting New York.

Miami's Garrett Cooper had two hits and drove in his first two runs of the season to end a 26-inning scoreless streak. Brian Anderson had two hits and scored twice for the Marlins, who also ended a seven-game losing streak against the Mets dating to last season.

Trevor Richards (1-5) went 6 1/3 innings for Miami, allowing three runs and six hits. He struck out four and walked three.

Phillies 5, Rockies 4

Bryce Harper greeted reliever Carlos Estevez with a two-run double in the fifth inning, propelling Philadelphia to a victory over visiting Colorado in the opener of a three-game series.

Cole Irvin (2-0) overcame his own fielding miscues to win his second straight start, thanks in large part to the three shutout innings by three Philadelphia relievers.

Andrew McCutchen hit a two-run homer, and Jean Segura had three hits for the Phillies.

Orioles 5, Indians 1

Jonathan Villar belted a three-run homer. and Dylan Bundy tossed 5 2/3 solid innings as Baltimore recorded a victory at Cleveland.

Stevie Wilkerson homered to lead off the fourth inning and added an RBI double in the eighth for the Orioles, who posted just their second win in their last nine outings overall and fourth in their last 16 versus Cleveland. Wilkerson also made a leaping catch in center field to deny Carlos Gonzalez of extra bases in the eighth inning.

Jake Bauers had an RBI single in the second inning for the Indians, who mustered just three hits — all singles — after setting season highs in both runs and hits (14) on Thursday in a 14-7 victory in the opener of the four-game series.

Rangers 7, Cardinals 3

Rougned Odor and Shin-Soo Choo each homered during a seven-run second inning, and Adrian Sampson earned his first major league victory by tossing 5 1/3 solid innings of relief as Texas cruised past St. Louis in the opener of a three-game series in Arlington, Texas.

The Rangers have won three straight. The Cardinals have lost three straight and are 4-12 since May 1.

Cardinals starter Miles Mikolas (4-4), who spent the 2014 season with the Rangers, faced the minimum in the first inning before Texas busted out in the second, when nine of its first 10 batters reached against Mikolas.

Braves 12, Brewers 8

Atlanta cranked three home runs in a nine-run sixth inning in support of Max Fried and rolled to a win over visiting Milwaukee. The Braves posted their sixth win in the past seven games.

Atlanta entered the sixth with a three-run lead and put it away with the long ball. Dansby Swanson snapped an 0-for-17 skid with a three-run shot to get it started, and Josh Donaldson added a solo homer. Tyler Flowers finished it with a two-run blast to center field.

The Braves completed the rally on Ronald Acuna Jr.'s two-run single. Acuna was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and Atlanta improved to 6-1 since he moved into the leadoff position.

Dodgers 6, Reds 0

Rich Hill struck out 10 over six scoreless innings while Joc Pederson and Max Muncy hit back-to-back home runs as Los Angeles started a three-city road trip with a shutout victory at Cincinnati.

Hill (1-1) was shaky in his first three starts to the season after recovering from a knee sprain, but put it together against the Reds with his first double-digit strikeout performance since June 29, 2018.

Dodgers pitchers recorded their fifth shutout in the past nine games, including two consecutive, while striking out 13 batters. Reds starter Anthony DeSclafani (2-2) gave up four runs on six hits over four innings while losing a game for the first time since April 7.

Diamondbacks 7, Giants 0

Arizona's four-run rally in the seventh inning, which included San Francisco manager Bruce Bochy's ejection, doomed the Giants in a loss in Phoenix.

A bases-clearing triple by Eduardo Escobar highlighted the seventh for the Diamondbacks, who sent nine batters to the plate in the inning.

One of the batters, Jarrod Dyson, was hit by a pitch on his left hand while trying to bunt. Plate umpire Andy Fletcher ruled the ball did not hit the bat, and Dyson was sent to first base to load the bases against reliever Derek Holland. Bochy argued with Fletcher, who gave Bochy his 77th career ejection in his 25 years as a manager. Bochy is retiring after this season.

Twins 7, Mariners 1

Ehire Adrianza homered, Max Kepler had two hits and three RBIs, and Martin Perez picked up his sixth win of the season to lead visiting Minnesota past Seattle.

It was the fourth straight victory for the Twins, who have also won five in a row on the road. Marwin Gonzalez went 2-for-5 and scored two runs, and Adrianza finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs. Perez (6-1) allowed one run on five hits over 6 2/3 innings, walking four and striking out seven.

Edwin Encarnacion went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and Dee Gordon also had two hits for Seattle, which lost for the 14th time in the past 18 games.

Angels 5, Royals 2

Mike Trout singled, doubled, walked, stole a base and scored a run to lead Los Angeles' balanced attack in a victory over Kansas City in Anaheim, Calif.

While Trout set the pace, he had plenty of help from his teammates. All nine hitters in the starting lineup reached base either by hit or walk, including seven who had at least one hit.

Matt Harvey (2-3) gave up the two runs on four hits and four walks in five-plus innings. Four Angels relievers combined for four scoreless innings, anchored by Hansel Robles, who pitched the ninth for his fifth save.

Pirates 5, Padres 3

Bryan Reynolds decided a pitching duel between former Padres teammates Jordan Lyles and Joey Lucchesi with a two-run homer to lead visiting Pittsburgh to a win in San Diego.

Reynolds followed a one-out single by Josh Bell in the fourth with a 415-foot drive to center off a 2-and-0 sinker from Lucchesi. The homer erased a 1-0 Padres lead that came in the first inning when Franmil Reyes homered off Lyles.

Lyles (4-1) allowed one run on five hits and a walk with 12 strikeouts over seven innings to lower his ERA to 1.97 in eight starts. Lucchesi (3-3) also allowed five hits in seven innings. He didn't issue a walk and struck out six. — Reuters
